Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection procedures with precision and patient comfort
- Process, label, and transport specimens according to strict laboratory protocols
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA standards
- Operate and calibrate phlebotomy equipment including centrifuges and analyzers
- Train junior staff on best practices in blood collection techniques
- Collaborate with laboratory and clinical teams to ensure seamless patient care
- Implement infection control measures and safety protocols consistently
Qualifications
- Current ASCP or AMT Phlebotomy Technician certification required
- Minimum 3 years of hospital or clinical phlebotomy experience
- Proven expertise in difficult venipuncture and pediatric collections
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, CLIA, and CAP regulations
- BLS/CPR certification with current renewal
- Associate's degree in Medical Technology or related field preferred
- Exceptional interpersonal skills for patient interaction
- Ability to work efficiently in high-volume settings
