Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary draws with precision and patient comfort in mind.
- Verify patient identities and accurately complete pre-test paperwork and requisitions.
- Ensure all specimens are properly labeled, processed, and transported according to lab standards.
- Maintain strict adherence to safety and hygiene protocols in the phlebotomy area.
- Effectively communicate with patients, nurses, and physicians to resolve inquiries.
- Assist in the orientation of new phlebotomy staff and training programs.
- Manage inventory of supplies and ensure the phlebotomy suite is organized and clean.
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent certification required.
- Current Texas state licensure or eligibility to obtain licensure.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience in a clinical laboratory setting is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification is a plus.
