Responsibilities
- Accurately code medical procedures and diagnoses using CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS systems
- Submit clean claims to insurance companies and manage denial resolution workflows
- Verify patient eligibility and benefits coverage for all services rendered
- Process payments, adjustments, and write-offs according to compliance standards
- Collaborate with clinical teams to resolve billing discrepancies and documentation gaps
- Maintain HIPAA-compliant patient records and billing documentation
- Analyze aging reports and implement follow-up strategies for outstanding balances
- Stay current with healthcare billing regulations and payer policy changes
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Healthcare Administration or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 2+ years of medical billing experience in a clinical or hospital setting
- Certification in medical coding (CPC, CCS, or CPC-A) strongly preferred
- Proficiency in medical billing software (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth)
- Deep knowledge of insurance claim processes and reimbursement methodologies
- Exceptional attention to detail with 10-key and data entry skills
- Strong analytical abilities for identifying billing trends and improvement opportunities
