Responsibilities
- Process and submit accurate medical claims to insurance companies and government payers
- Verify patient eligibility and benefits coverage before service rendering
- Manage accounts receivable and follow up on unpaid/denied claims
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, CMS, and billing industry standards
- Utilize EHR systems (Epic/Cerner preferred) for coding and billing documentation
- Resolve billing discrepancies through coordination with providers and payers
- Generate monthly revenue cycle reports for financial analysis
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of medical billing experience in a healthcare setting
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or CPC certification required
- Proficiency in ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems
- Strong knowledge of Alaska Medicaid and Medicare regulations
- Advanced skills in medical billing software (e.g., NextGen, Athenahealth)
- Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
- Associate's degree in Health Information Management preferred
