Responsibilities
- Process and submit clean claims to insurance companies and government payers
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits for accurate billing
- Resolve claim denials and underpayments through systematic follow-up
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, CMS, and payer-specific regulations
- Generate monthly reports on billing metrics and financial performance
- Collaborate with clinical staff to document services accurately
- Utilize EHR systems (Epic/Cerner preferred) for coding and billing
Qualifications
- 3+ years of medical billing experience in a healthcare setting
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or CPC certification required
- Proficiency in ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems
- Expert knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer policies
- Strong analytical skills to identify billing trends and discrepancies
- Experience with billing software (e.g., Athena, Medisoft)
- Excellent communication skills for patient and insurance interactions
- Associate degree in Health Information Technology or related field
