Responsibilities
- Accurately code and submit medical claims to insurance companies using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes
- Review and resolve claim denials, rejections, and underpayments through appeals and follow-ups
- Maintain patient accounts and process insurance verification, pre-authorizations, and payment plans
- Collaborate with clinical teams to ensure documentation compliance with billing requirements
- Stay current with healthcare regulations, payer policies, and coding updates
- Generate monthly reports on key performance metrics like days in accounts receivable
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree in healthcare administration preferred
- 2+ years of medical billing experience with knowledge of insurance claim processes
- Certification (CPC, CCS, or similar) strongly preferred
- Proficiency in billing software (e.g., Epic, Medisoft) and EHR systems
- Strong analytical skills with ability to identify discrepancies and resolve issues
- Excellent communication skills for patient and provider interactions
