Responsibilities
- Review and submit medical claims (CMS-1500, UB-04) to insurance payers with 100% accuracy.
- Follow up on pending claims and appeal denied claims to maximize reimbursement.
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and process copayments and deductibles.
- Maintain accurate patient billing records and resolve billing inquiries professionally.
- Ensure strict compliance with HIPAA regulations and internal coding standards.
- Collaborate with medical coders and front office staff to resolve billing discrepancies.
- Utilize EHR systems (Epic, Cerner, or similar) to track financial data.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS) preferred.
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in medical billing or medical coding.
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact with patients and insurance representatives.
- Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
