Responsibilities
- Review and submit medical claims to insurance carriers (Blue Cross, United, etc.) for reimbursement.
- Verify and code patient insurance information accurately using ICD-10 and CPT guidelines.
- Follow up on denied, delayed, or underpaid claims and appeal them as necessary.
- Reconcile accounts receivable and prepare monthly financial reports.
- Maintain strict HIPAA compliance regarding patient data privacy and security.
- Assist patients with billing inquiries and explain insurance coverage.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Medical Billing, Health Information Technology, or related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing and claims processing.
- Certification as a CPC (Certified Professional Coder) or CPC-A is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or AthenaHealth.
- Strong working knowledge of medical terminology and billing software.
- Excellent attention to detail and time management skills.
