Responsibilities
- Review and accurately code medical records using ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines.
- Prepare and submit claims to insurance carriers (CMS-1500 form) and follow up on pending payments.
- Investigate and resolve denied or rejected claims to ensure timely reimbursement.
- Manage patient accounts by communicating payment plans and outstanding balances.
- Maintain precise financial records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with medical coders and front-office staff to resolve billing discrepancies.
Qualifications
- Certification such as RHIA, RHIT, CPC, or CCS preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in medical billing and claims processing.
- Proficient in EMR/EHR software (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth, Cerner).
- Strong working knowledge of healthcare payer guidelines and regulations.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
