Responsibilities
- Manage Insurance Claims: Accurately complete and submit CMS-1500 claims to insurance payers electronically and manually.
- Verify Eligibility: Perform timely verification of patient insurance coverage to prevent claim denials.
- Follow-Up: Conduct systematic follow-up on pending claims to ensure timely reimbursement.
- Denial Management: Analyze denied claims to identify root causes and submit effective appeals.
- Patient Inquiries: Communicate clearly with patients regarding outstanding balances and payment plans.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Medical Billing preferred.
- Experience: 1-3 years of professional medical billing experience required.
- Certifications: CPC, COC, or RHIT certification is highly desirable.
- Software Proficiency: Experience with EMR/EHR systems (Epic, Athenahealth) is mandatory.
- Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS, and insurance reimbursement guidelines.
- Skills: Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail.
