Responsibilities
- Review and verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility to prevent claim denials.
- Accurately code medical procedures and diagnoses using ICD-10 and CPT guidelines.
- Submit clean claims to insurance carriers (CMS-1500 forms) and follow up on outstanding balances.
- Manage accounts receivable (AR) and resolve billing discrepancies efficiently.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of healthcare billing laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with patients, providers, and insurance companies to resolve billing issues.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree in Medical Billing/Coding preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing or a related healthcare administrative role.
- Certification (e.g., CPC, CPC-A, CCS) is a plus but not mandatory.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical billing software.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
