Responsibilities
- Process and submit clean medical claims to insurance companies and government payers
- Verify patient eligibility and benefits coverage before service delivery
- Appeal denied claims with supporting documentation and follow up on unpaid accounts
- Maintain accurate patient records and billing databases in compliance with HIPAA
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding billing inquiries and payment plans
- Analyze claim denials and implement corrective actions to prevent future issues
- Collaborate with clinical teams to ensure proper coding and documentation
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of medical billing experience with knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes
- Familiarity with EHR systems (Epic, Cerner) and billing software (e.g., Kareo, AdvancedMD)
- Certification (CPC, CBCS) or willingness to obtain within 90 days
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy in financial transactions
- Excellent communication abilities for patient and insurance company interactions
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities
- Knowledge of CMS guidelines and commercial payer policies
