Responsibilities
- Review patient medical records and assign accurate ICD-10 and CPT codes to support billing.
- Submit claims to various insurance payers (commercial, Medicare, Medicaid) via clearinghouse.
- Monitor claim status and diligently follow up on unpaid or rejected claims to ensure timely reimbursement.
- Communicate professionally with patients and insurance companies regarding billing inquiries and outstanding balances.
- Reconcile daily bank deposits and maintain organized financial records.
- Stay updated on changing healthcare regulations and coding updates to ensure compliance.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Medical Billing or similar field preferred.
- Certification (CPC, COC, CPB) is highly preferred but not strictly required for entry-level candidates.
- Proficiency with medical billing software (Epic, AthenaHealth, or similar EHR systems) is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA compliance and revenue cycle management best practices.
- Exceptional attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
