Responsibilities
- Verify patient demographics and medical records to ensure accuracy before billing.
- Assign appropriate medical codes (CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10) to diagnoses and procedures.
- Prepare and submit claims to government and private insurance payers electronically.
- Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on denied or unpaid claims.
- Manage patient billing inquiries and resolve account discrepancies.
- Stay updated on changing healthcare regulations, coding updates, and compliance standards.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Medical Billing, Health Information Technology, or related field.
- CPC (Certified Professional Coder) or CCS (Certified Coding Specialist) certification preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing and claims processing.
- Proficient in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or AthenaHealth.
- Strong working knowledge of HIPAA privacy regulations and billing compliance.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills.
