Responsibilities
- Prepare Operating Rooms: Set up sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies for surgical procedures to ensure a safe and efficient environment.
- Assist Surgeons: Provide hands-on assistance during operations by passing instruments and sutures, anticipating the needs of the surgical team.
- Maintain Sterile Field: Adhere strictly to aseptic techniques to prevent infection and maintain patient safety standards.
- Patient Care Support: Escort patients to the operating room, prepare them for surgery, and assist with positioning and safety checks.
- Instrument Counting: Accurately count and account for all sponges, needles, and instruments before, during, and after procedures.
- Document Patient Data: Maintain accurate medical records and documentation regarding surgical procedures and patient observations.
- Clean and Organize: Perform thorough cleaning and sterilization of operating rooms and equipment between cases.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED is required. Completion of an accredited surgical technology program is a plus but not mandatory.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights (up to 50 lbs) as required in the operating room.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional ability to focus on minute details and follow complex instructions precisely.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with surgeons, nurses, and patients.
