Responsibilities
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits to ensure accurate billing.
- Submit accurate medical claims to insurance carriers (Commercial, Medicare, Medicaid).
- Follow up on unpaid and denied claims to maximize revenue collection.
- Manage patient billing inquiries and resolve payment discrepancies.
- Ensure strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and healthcare compliance standards.
- Reconcile daily cash postings and maintain detailed billing records.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Medical Billing or Healthcare Administration preferred.
- Certification (CPC, CPC-A, COC) is a plus but not mandatory.
- Proven experience with medical billing software (Epic, AthenaHealth, or Cerner).
- Strong working knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote or hybrid setting.
