Responsibilities
- Verify and Process Claims: Accurately review patient insurance information and submit claims to payers using electronic systems (e.g., clearinghouses).
- Follow-Up Management: Monitor accounts receivable, follow up on unpaid claims, and appeal denials to ensure maximum revenue recovery.
- Patient Communication: Handle patient inquiries regarding billing statements, insurance coverage, and payment plans professionally.
- Code Management: Apply appropriate ICD-10 and CPT codes to medical records and charge tickets.
- Record Maintenance: Maintain accurate and organized medical records, ensuring all documentation complies with regulatory standards.
- Reconciliation: Perform daily bank reconciliations and posting of payments to patient accounts.
Qualifications
- Experience: 1-3 years of hands-on experience in medical billing and collections.
- Certification: CPC (Certified Professional Coder) or RHIT certification is highly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Athenahealth, Greenway) and medical billing software.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of healthcare insurance plans (Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial), HCPCS codes, and denial management.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional ability to spot errors in data entry and ensure high accuracy in financial reporting.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients and insurance representatives.
- Reliability: Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a part-time schedule.
