Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary blood draws on patients of all ages, including infants and geriatrics, ensuring comfort and minimizing discomfort.
- Verify patient identities and accurately prepare labels and specimens for laboratory analysis.
- Maintain strict compliance with OSHA safety regulations, infection control protocols, and HIPAA guidelines.
- Manage patient check-in processes, explain procedures to alleviate anxiety, and answer questions regarding the testing process.
- Process and log specimens into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) promptly to ensure timely test results.
- Perform routine maintenance and calibration of phlebotomy equipment to ensure operational readiness.
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) credential required; equivalent experience considered.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work accurately under pressure.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact professionally with patients and medical staff.
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed.
