Responsibilities
- Perform routine venipunctures and capillary blood draws on patients of all ages using aseptic technique and strict safety protocols.
- Prepare, label, and process blood specimens accurately for laboratory testing.
- Educate patients about the phlebotomy process to ensure comfort and compliance.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sterile work environment in accordance with OSHA and CLIA regulations.
- Document patient information and results accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Collaborate with nurses and physicians to ensure timely specimen collection and delivery.
- Assist with inventory management of phlebotomy supplies and equipment.
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or Registered Phlebotomy Technician (RPT) certification required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum 1-2 years of clinical phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.
- Excellent communication skills with a focus on patient comfort and empathy.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.
