Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by setting up surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies.
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and supplies, maintaining visibility of the surgical site.
- Monitor patient vital signs and report any changes to the nursing staff or surgeon immediately.
- Ensure strict adherence to aseptic technique and sterilization protocols to prevent infections.
- Arrange sterile drapes and create a sterile field for surgical procedures.
- Transport patients to and from the operating suite with care and safety.
- Clean and maintain surgical instruments and equipment according to manufacturer guidelines.
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent certification.
- High school diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited surgical technology program preferred.
- CPR/BLS (Basic Life Support) certification and current ACLS certification.
- Minimum of 1 year of surgical experience in an acute care setting.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and work in fast-paced environments.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
