Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by arranging sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies.
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments and maintaining a sterile field.
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments to ensure zero loss during surgical procedures.
- Monitor patient vital signs and promptly report any changes to the RN or surgeon.
- Transport patients safely to and from the operating suite.
- Apply sterile drapes to create a sterile field and maintain a clean environment.
- Dispose of biohazard waste and sanitize equipment according to safety protocols.
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or eligible to obtain certification.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a surgical setting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of surgical anatomy, sterile technique, and instrument identification.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Excellent communication skills and teamwork abilities.
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift moderate weights.
