Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary blood draws with precision and patient comfort in mind.
- Verify patient identities and accurately prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.
- Maintain strict adherence to OSHA safety protocols and infection control standards.
- Assist in the orientation of new patients and explain procedures to alleviate anxiety.
- Process, label, and transport blood samples to the central lab efficiently.
- Document patient medical history and collection data accurately in electronic health records (EHR).
- Collaborate with nurses and physicians to ensure timely delivery of critical test results.
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or Medical Assistant (MA) with a focus on phlebotomy.
- Current Ohio Department of Health Phlebotomy license or equivalent state certification.
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in a hospital or outpatient setting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and specimen collection techniques.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs safely.
- Basic computer proficiency and ability to navigate EMR systems.
