Responsibilities
- Perform routine venipunctures and capillary blood draws with a focus on patient comfort and safety.
- Verify patient identity and accurately label specimens to ensure proper tracking and processing.
- Adhere strictly to HIPAA compliance, OSHA standards, and infection control protocols.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sterile phlebotomy workstation.
- Communicate effectively with patients to explain procedures and alleviate anxiety.
- Collaborate with laboratory staff and nurses to ensure timely specimen delivery.
- Manage inventory of supplies and report equipment malfunctions promptly.
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) certification required (CPT-I or CPT-II).
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of recent clinical experience preferred.
- Strong manual dexterity and excellent attention to detail.
- Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation (for potential mobile duties).
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
