Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture, capillary puncture, and microcollection procedures following strict protocols
- Process and label specimens accurately to ensure laboratory integrity
- Maintain sterile work environments and adhere to OSHA safety standards
- Utilize LIS systems for specimen tracking and data management
- Provide patient education and comfort during blood collection procedures
- Collaborate with clinical teams to ensure timely specimen processing
- Participate in quality assurance initiatives and continuous improvement
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent required
- Minimum 1 year clinical phlebotomy experience preferred
- Valid New York State Phlebotomy license
- BLS/CPR certification from American Heart Association
- Proficiency in venipuncture techniques across diverse patient populations
- Strong attention to detail and specimen handling skills
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
