Responsibilities
- Accurately code and bill medical procedures using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS systems
- Manage insurance claim submissions and resolve claim denials within 48 hours
- Conduct regular audits to ensure coding accuracy and regulatory compliance
- Collaborate with clinical teams to clarify documentation discrepancies
- Generate monthly financial reports for department leadership
- Train junior billing staff on best practices and system updates
- Stay current with CMS and private payer policy changes
Qualifications
- 5+ years of medical billing experience with insurance claim expertise
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or CPC certification required
- Proficiency in Epic, NextGen, or similar EMR systems
- Advanced knowledge of HIPAA, EMTALA, and ACA regulations
- Exceptional analytical skills with attention to financial detail
- Experience with denial management and appeals processes
- Strong communication skills for patient/provider interactions
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management preferred
