Responsibilities
- Accurately dispense and verify prescription medications following state and federal regulations
- Manage medication inventory, including ordering, receiving, and conducting cycle counts
- Provide exceptional patient counseling on medication usage and potential side effects
- Operate automated dispensing systems and pharmacy software (e.g., Omnicell, QS/1)
- Collaborate with pharmacists to resolve medication discrepancies and clinical inquiries
- Maintain HIPAA compliance in all patient interactions and record-keeping
- Train and mentor new pharmacy technicians on standard procedures
Qualifications
- Active Ohio Pharmacy Technician license (PTCB or ExCPT certified)
- Minimum 2 years of retail or hospital pharmacy experience
- Proficiency in pharmacy management systems and automated dispensing equipment
- Strong attention to detail and mathematical accuracy in medication calculations
- Excellent communication skills for patient interactions and team collaboration
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds
- Basic knowledge of sterile compounding procedures preferred
- Valid CPR certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days
