Responsibilities
- Medication Dispensing: Accurately prepare and dispense prescription medications to patients, verifying dosages and potential drug interactions meticulously.
- Patient Counseling: Provide exceptional patient service by counseling individuals on proper medication usage, storage, and potential side effects.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, order pharmaceutical supplies, and manage inventory control systems to ensure optimal stock availability.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to New York State Board of Pharmacy regulations, HIPAA privacy standards, and hospital protocols.
- Quality Assurance: Assist in the implementation of quality control measures and participate in pharmacy audits to maintain accreditation standards.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, prescription profiles, and financial transactions within the pharmacy software system.
- Collaboration: Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to resolve medication-related inquiries.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current PTCB or ExCPT certification is required.
- Licensure: Valid New York State Pharmacy Technician License in good standing.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting preferred.
- Skills: Strong proficiency with pharmacy management software (e.g., Rx30, Cerner, or Epic) and basic computer skills.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional ability to verify data and maintain a high level of accuracy under pressure.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a customer service-oriented mindset.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 lbs, and maneuver around the pharmacy floor.
