Responsibilities
- Prepare the Operating Room: Set up surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment to ensure readiness for procedures.
- Assist Surgeons: Pass instruments and sterile supplies to surgeons during operations, anticipating their needs.
- Maintain Sterility: Adhere to strict sterilization protocols to prevent infections and ensure patient safety.
- Patient Care: Prepare patients for surgery by positioning them, marking incision sites, and washing and sterilizing the surgical site.
- Record Keeping: Accurately count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after procedures to ensure no items are left behind.
- Environmental Maintenance: Monitor and maintain the sterile field during surgery and keep the operating room organized.
Qualifications
- Education: Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Certification: Certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or NCCT is required.
- Licensure: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a hospital or surgical setting preferred.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
