Responsibilities
- Operating Room Preparation: Set up sterile instrument trays and equipment before surgeries to ensure the surgeon has immediate access to necessary tools.
- Surgical Assistance: Pass instruments, sutures, and sponges to surgeons and assistants during procedures, anticipating needs based on the type of surgery.
- Patient Prep: Prepare patients for surgery by washing, shaving, and sterilizing incision sites, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Sterile Field Maintenance: Maintain a sterile environment throughout the surgical process, adhering to strict infection control protocols.
- Specimen Handling: Properly label and deliver tissue samples to the pathology department for analysis.
- Post-Procedure Care: Assist recovery room nurses with patient transport and post-operative care as needed.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Medical Interest: A strong desire to work in the healthcare field and assist in surgical operations.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift equipment or patients up to 50 lbs.
