Responsibilities
- Assist Surgeons: Pass instruments and sterile supplies to surgeons during procedures with speed and accuracy.
- Sterile Field Maintenance: Maintain a sterile environment, ensuring all instruments and equipment are properly prepared and sterilized.
- Patient Safety: Monitor patient counts and ensure proper labeling of specimens for pathology.
- Procedural Support: Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and prepare operating rooms for various types of surgeries.
- Documentation: Accurately document surgical data and maintain accurate logs of procedures performed.
- Equipment Management: Inspect and troubleshoot surgical equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current Certified Surgical Technician (CST) or Certified Operating Room Surgical Technician (CORST) certification required.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a hospital or surgical setting preferred.
- Licensure: Current BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of aseptic technique, surgical anatomy, and sterilization processes.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
