Responsibilities
- Assist surgeons and registered nurses during surgical procedures by passing instruments and supplies promptly.
- Prepare operating rooms, ensuring sterile environments and proper equipment setup before procedures.
- Monitor and maintain the sterile field throughout surgery to prevent infection.
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments to ensure the correct count is maintained at the start and end of surgery.
- Handle specimens accurately for laboratory analysis.
- Document patient information and surgical procedures accurately in medical records.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure smooth workflow and patient safety.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) certification.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a hospital or ambulatory surgery center setting preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid Alaska driver's license preferred for facility travel.
