Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms for surgical procedures by sterilizing equipment and arranging instruments and supplies.
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments and sterile materials.
- Maintain a sterile field by adhering to strict aseptic techniques and protocols.
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after surgery to ensure safety.
- Monitor patient vital signs and report any significant changes to the nursing staff or surgeon.
- Prepare patients for surgery by positioning them and washing surgical sites.
- Assist with post-operative care by preparing the patient for transfer to the recovery room.
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) credential required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist preferred.
- Strong knowledge of surgical anatomy and aseptic technique.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work well under pressure.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
