Responsibilities
- Assist the Surgical Team: Provide critical assistance to surgeons and registered nurses during surgical procedures, anticipating instrument needs and ensuring a smooth workflow.
- Prepare Operating Rooms: Set up surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies prior to surgery, ensuring sterility and readiness according to established protocols.
- Monitor Patient Status: Maintain a sterile field, monitor patient vitals, and assist with draping and positioning patients for surgical interventions.
- Instrument Management: Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after procedures to ensure zero retained foreign bodies.
- Sterilization & Maintenance: Properly clean, disinfect, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment using autoclaves or other sterilization methods.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required.
- Education: Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program or diploma.
- Licensure: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association is mandatory.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in an acute care or surgical setting preferred.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, aseptic technique, and medical terminology.
