Responsibilities
- Assist the surgical team before, during, and after procedures by preparing operating rooms and sterilizing equipment.
- Maintain a sterile field during surgical operations and anticipate the surgeon's needs for instruments and supplies.
- Pass instruments, sponges, and sutures to surgeons and assistants during operations.
- Monitor the patient's vital signs and report any changes to the nursing staff or surgeon.
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after procedures to ensure zero loss.
- Prepare patients for surgery by positioning them properly and covering them with surgical drapes.
- Ensure operating rooms are clean, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Technologist in Surgery - Certified (TS-C) credential required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- 1-3 years of experience in a hospital or surgical center setting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of sterile techniques and surgical procedures.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Excellent communication skills and teamwork abilities.
