Responsibilities
- Patient Assessment: Conduct thorough initial patient assessments via phone or in-person to determine the urgency of medical conditions.
- Priority Management: Utilize triage protocols to prioritize patient care needs and route individuals to the appropriate level of care (ER, Urgent Care, or Physician referral).
- Documentation: Accurately document patient symptoms, vital signs, and triage decisions in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Education: Provide patients with clear instructions on self-care, medication management, and when to seek further medical attention.
- Collaboration: Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient transitions.
- Quality Assurance: Monitor and report on key triage metrics to improve patient flow and satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Licensure: Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Texas.
- Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications are required.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year in a triage or emergency department setting preferred.
- Skills: Strong critical thinking and decision-making abilities under pressure.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to convey complex medical information in an understandable manner.
- Technology: Proficiency with EMR systems and computer technology.
