Job Summary
The Triage Nurse is responsible for evaluating patient symptoms, prioritizing care based on severity, and facilitating communication between patients and medical providers. You will play a critical role in streamlining patient flow and ensuring high-quality patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Conduct Comprehensive Patient Assessments: Utilize evidence-based guidelines to evaluate patient symptoms and determine the appropriate level of care required.
- Prioritize Care Delivery: Differentiate between emergent, urgent, and non-urgent conditions to ensure patients receive timely medical attention.
- Facilitate Communication: Act as the primary liaison between patients, nurses, and physicians to relay critical information regarding patient status and treatment plans.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely electronic health records (EHR) documenting triage assessments, patient instructions, and follow-up plans.
- Education & Support: Provide patients with clear instructions on self-care, symptom management, and when to seek further medical assistance.
- Operational Efficiency: Assist in managing the flow of the department to minimize wait times and optimize patient throughput.
Qualifications
- Licensure: Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of California.
- Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications required.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year specifically in a triage or urgent care setting preferred.
- Skills: Strong assessment skills, excellent communication abilities, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Technology Proficiency: Must be proficient in using electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) systems.
- Soft Skills: Demonstrated empathy, patient-centered care approach, and strong decision-making capabilities.
