Responsibilities
- Review and verify medical records to ensure accuracy before claim submission.
- Process and submit medical claims to insurance companies (Commercial, Medicare, Medicaid) using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
- Follow up on denied, rejected, or delayed claims to ensure timely reimbursement.
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and collect co-pays or deductibles as needed.
- Manage patient accounts and maintain detailed billing records.
- Communicate effectively with patients, insurance carriers, and healthcare providers regarding billing inquiries.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Medical Billing or Healthcare Administration is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing or medical coding.
- Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Familiarity with billing software such as Epic, AthenaHealth, or Cerner.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA compliance and medical terminology.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
