Responsibilities
- Review and submit medical claims to insurance payers (Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial insurers) for maximum reimbursement.
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to services rendered to prevent claim denials.
- Manage accounts receivable, follow up on outstanding balances, and resolve complex billing denials.
- Code medical diagnoses and procedures accurately using ICD-10 and CPT coding standards.
- Communicate effectively with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers regarding billing inquiries.
- Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA regulations and internal audit requirements.
Qualifications
- Certification as a CPC, CBCS, or RHIT is preferred.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in medical billing or coding.
- Strong working knowledge of Electronic Health Records (EHR) and practice management software (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth, Greenway).
- Familiarity with ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines.
- Excellent analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
