Responsibilities
- Accurately review and code medical records to ensure compliance with ICD-10 and CPT guidelines.
- Submit and follow up on claims to insurance payers (e.g., Blue Cross, Medicare, Medicaid) to maximize reimbursement.
- Manage the revenue cycle by tracking unpaid claims, identifying denial reasons, and appealing denied claims.
- Communicate effectively with patients and insurance providers to resolve billing inquiries and discrepancies.
- Utilize EMR/EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Athenahealth) to maintain accurate patient financial records.
- Ensure strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and company policies regarding patient data privacy.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree in Medical Billing, Health Information Technology, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in medical billing, coding, or claims processing.
- Proven knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Familiarity with clearinghouses and electronic claim submissions.
- Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
