Responsibilities
- Review and verify patient demographic and insurance information to ensure accuracy before claim submission.
- Submit medical claims to insurance payers (Commercial, Medicare, Medicaid) via electronic and paper means.
- Follow up on unpaid claims and denials, appealing rejected claims within the timely filing limits.
- Reconcile patient accounts, post payments, and prepare statements for collection.
- Utilize EHR and billing software (e.g., Epic, Athenahealth) to manage the revenue cycle efficiently.
- Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA regulations and internal policies.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Healthcare Administration preferred.
- Previous experience as a Medical Biller or Coder (1-2 years minimum).
- Proficiency with medical billing software and Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.
