Responsibilities
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to rendering services.
- Accurately code medical procedures and diagnoses using ICD-10 and CPT guidelines.
- Submit clean claims to various insurance carriers (Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial) electronically.
- Research and resolve denied or rejected claims within designated timeframes.
- Manage patient billing statements, payment plans, and collections inquiries.
- Reconcile daily cash receipts and maintain accurate billing logs.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Medical Billing or Healthcare Administration preferred.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in medical billing, coding, or a revenue cycle role.
- CPC (Certified Professional Coder) or COC (Certified Outpatient Coder) certification is highly desirable.
- Proficient knowledge of medical billing software (e.g., Epic, Cerner, AthenaHealth) and clearinghouses.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and compliance standards.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical problem-solving skills.
