Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection procedures adhering to strict safety protocols
- Label, process, and transport specimens to laboratory with chain-of-custody documentation
- Maintain accurate patient records using EHR systems and HIPAA-compliant procedures
- Calibrate and sterilize equipment following infection control guidelines
- Provide patient education on pre-test preparation procedures
- Collaborate with medical staff on specimen collection troubleshooting
- Participate in quality assurance initiatives and continuous improvement programs
Qualifications
- Current Phlebotomy Technician certification (ASCP or AMT preferred)
- Minimum 1 year clinical phlebotomy experience in fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in venipuncture, capillary draws, and pediatric techniques
- Strong knowledge of OSHA bloodborne pathogen standards
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to calm anxious patients
- Experience with EHR systems (Epic/Cerner preferred)
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
- CPR certification required
