Responsibilities
- Perform routine venipunctures and capillary blood draws with a focus on patient comfort and safety.
- Verify patient identity and explain the blood collection process to reduce anxiety.
- Label, process, and store blood specimens according to strict laboratory protocols.
- Maintain a clean, sterile environment and adhere to all OSHA and HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with nurses and physicians to ensure accurate patient care and data entry.
- Manage inventory of supplies, ensuring phlebotomy trays and equipment are fully stocked.
- Handle difficult draws with patience and employ alternative techniques when necessary.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required (current healthcare students encouraged to apply).
- Willingness to participate in and complete the paid training program.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages.
- Basic computer literacy for electronic health record (EHR) documentation.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.
- Reliable transportation and valid identification.
